Made from hale wood, they are sturdy and highly durable. The craft of wood turning is hundreds of years old. A skilled artisan fixes a rough-hewn circular block of wood at the head of the traditional lathe machine and hammers it in place by hand. The machine begins whirring as the artisan introduces a hand-held chisel to the block, and applies varying degrees of pressure to sculpt the desired shape and to smoothen the edges. Chips of lac, a natural resin acquired from forests, are bought locally to make the color with which the wooden pieces are coated. By carefully holding the lacquer stick, the surface is coated with practiced circular strokes. The heat ensuing from the lathe in motion gently melts the lacquer stick, dyeing the wood. The lacquer is spread uniformly over the surface with the help of a dried palm leaf. These rural artisans persevere to keep this craft alive despite stiff competition

What to do if your item(s) is missing

If your items have not arrived or are missing in transit, please contact the shipping company responsible for the delivery. Once the product leaves our warehouse, the delivery company becomes responsible for its possession and safe arrival. We can try to contact them on your behalf, but we strongly advise that you attempt to contact them first; if the case cannot be resolved, please reach out to us with the details of your order and conversation with the shipping company. We are not responsible for items that go missing or are damaged during transit. 

We gladly accept returns on select items​

Contact us within 7 days of delivery. Ship items back within 21 days of delivery.

We don't accept exchanges or cancellations, but please contact us if you have any problems with your order.

The following items cannot be returned or exchanged. Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, we can't accept returns for:

1) Custom or personalized orders

2) Perishable products (like food or flowers)

3) Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)

4) Items on sale or clearance 

5) Completed build-at-home pieces

6) Gift cards/certificates ​

Conditions of return and refunds

Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the product arrives damaged. You MUST contact us when you receive the package to inform us that it is damaged. We are not responsible for damages that incur on the customer's behalf after delivery. If the item is not returned in its original condition (unless damaged already), the buyer is responsible for any loss in value. If all conditions are met, you will be refunded to your method of purchase, usually within 4-14 business days.
